Honed concrete is a smooth surface and it is great for under cover areas, but when installed around a pool or on pathways it is advisable to ensure your sealer has silica included in it, as the tiny balls will add some extra grip to the area. However, please note, the surface will still be slippery if it has a considerable amount of surface water on it. A better option for around your pool would be exposed aggregate as it has much better grip qualities, even when wet.

You may also notice stains a lot more because of the smooth surface, there are no raised stones (exposed concrete) to hide the marks. In our opinion, exposed aggregate would be better suited for your driveway.
